Terms of Employment: Casual, Full Time, On Call Salary: To be negotiated Anticipated Start Date: 2010/05/03 Location: Pubnico area, Nova Scotia (1 vacancy) Skill Requirements: Education: Completion of high school Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Not applicable, Not required Experience: Will train Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English Type of Work Experience: Renewable resources, Enforcement, Habitat management, Fishing industry Specific Skills: Work in remote areas, Liaise with indigenous conservation officers, Assist biologists, Perform off-shore surveillance, Check registrations and licences of fishing vessels, Inspect fish catch for size, Monitor legal fish season, Inspect fishing gear and equipment Additional Skills: Perform resources protection duties, Gather resource data Essential Skills: Reading text, Document use, Numeracy, Writing, Working with others, Problem solving, Decision making, Critical thinking, Job task planning and organizing, Finding information Other Information:Observers work at sea aboard commercial fishing vessels sailing from ports in Nova Scotia.
