Working for a Major Oil and Gas company as their representative this contract position offers a competitve day rate whilst being involved in one of Australia's largest deep sea gas field development projects. Working on the Northwest shelf you will be required to log any marine sightings in order to comply with EPBC ACT
Field programs will be performed over a 6-10 month period starting in March / April 2010. Note that field activities may be discontinuous over this time period. MARINE MAMMAL OBSERVER Buyer will require up to 4 MMO/MFO representatives (2 per rotation) on a 4 to 6 week rotation for the duration of the field programs. The MMO/MFO is Buyer\'s representative that \"monitors and advises\" on Marine Mammal matters associated with the Project. He/She is responsible for verifying that the survey contractors and subcontractors comply with the provisions for care of Marine Mammals in the Australia EPBC Act Policy Statement 2.1 guidelines, the Project SHE Plan, the contract requirements, applicable Marine Mammal laws and regulations, and appropriate industry standards. Key Responsibilities: • Monitor and record Marine Mammal activity during the course of the survey. • Monitor and assess Contractor SHE procedures and processes in relation to Marine Mammals • Ensure all procedures in relation to Marine Mammals conform to Australia \"EPBC Act Policy Statement 2.1 - Interaction between offshore seismic exploration and whales\" an other such regulations and mitigation measures as may apply • Ensure adherence to the contract SHE requirements and Project SHE Plan in relation to Marine Mammals • Communicate deviations to Buyer and Contractor designated personnel • Provide MMO training to vessel crew members as appropriate. • Compile a log of Marine Mammal sightings and activity • Assist the Lead QC Representative to compile MMO data for reporting purposes. • Work with Technical and SHE QCs as a team • Maintain awareness of other QCs\' areas of responsibility At the end of the survey, the Marine Mammal Observer is to submit three hard copies and three CDROM digital copies (to include all photographs) of the MMO Report.
